What started out as a gag has turned into a passion
I've worked with stained glass for many years. I've always designed my own patterns because I wanted my work to be original. I also made mosaic stepping stones from my scrap glass.
My brother, who is a writer, gave me his old manual Smith-Corona typewriter a few years back. I'm not sure why he thought I'd even want it. I decided to take it apart, put the pieces in a stepping stone and give it back to him as a joke. With all the pieces spread out on the table, I noticed that the strikers (the parts that makes the letters on the paper) looked like legs to an insect. I cut out an oval-shaped piece of glass and
placed it on top of the “legs”. With a little improvising and a lot of imagination, I fashioned my first creature which now resides in my brother's home. At that point, the question “What if I tried...?” popped into my head and since never left. What started out as a gag has become a passion.
Ideas for new creatures or techniques literally materialize in my mind any where, any time.
As you stroll through the gallery you'll see how the “What if I tried...?” question continues to fuel my imagination.
